Just incase you haventt heard it already, the current buzz word in the Laptops world is Dual Core Processor. Most current Laptops now feature these processors and what it basically means is that it consists of two complete execution cores both physically housed within one processor. Both cores are running at the same frequency and share the same packaging and chipset/memory. The advantages of purchasing Cheap Laptops with a dual core processor is that it boosts your multi tasking options meaning you can do such things as download music from the internet whilst playing a game simultaneously. It also improves the throughput of multithreaded applications and significantly improves the processing power of your cheap laptop.

So what factors should you take into account when looking for good value cheap laptops? Well first of all there is the processor. This is the brain of your Computer that performs all the calculations and number crunching so go for the fastest one you can afford and preferably a dual core processor. The there is the hard drive. This component stores all your information such as your music files, programs, software, text files, spreadsheets, photos etc. With todays technology, files such as photos, video and music are becoming much larger, Therefore a large Hard drive is needed to store them all on. If possible go for Cheap Laptops with a Hard drive of at least 120gig.

Next is the display size. Obviously the bigger the better but bear in mind that this also means that the bigger it is the more battery power it will consume so a 15 or 15.4 inch display on your Cheap Laptop should be sufficient.
Then there is the RAM. This stands for Random Access Memory and consists of a memory chip that performs many calculations with what you are working with at the current time. The bigger the RAM the faster a Cheap Laptop will perform. Dont settle for anything less than 512kb. Preferably go for at least 1gig of RAM.

Then youve got your optical media device to consider such as CD / DVD. Whilst a built in CD drive is fine a rewritable DVD or combi(both DVD and CD) drive is more suitable. Due to computer files becoming larger and larger as they store more information you need to back up your files onto a suitable media that can handle the size of the files and CDs just dont have the storage capacity. Therefore you should always aim to purchase a Cheap Laptop with at least a DVD Rewriter.
